The international Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment aims to elevate and advance the non-operative management of idiopathic scoliosis. It began in 2005, and has grown to include a multi-disciplinary cohort of physicians, physiotherapists, orthotists, nurses, researchers, engineers and patients representing 26 countries. The work of this organization is grounded in scientific evidence, clinical expertise, and professional consensus. Its mission is to advance foundational knowledge, document effective historical interventions, and to develop and refine guidelines to promote effective and innovative treatment for this population. In light of SOSORT’s commitment to elevating the knowledge base around IS management, the upcoming 2018 SOSORT conference is excited to include a number of educational courses as well as a scientific research course in addition to regular conference programming.
The Level 1 course will provide foundational knowledge to professionals seeking to improve their care of patients with scoliosis. This course will include topics such as: 3D natural history of idiopathic scoliosis, clinical picture and assessment tools, non-operative management of scoliosis through physical therapy scoliosis specific exercises (PSSE) and bracing, when to move beyond conservative management, and sports and scoliosis.
At the same time, the Level 2 course will offer the opportunity to deeply and interactively engage in conversations with experts about physical therapy and bracing such as: correlation between sagittal parameters and curve progression in therapy and bracing, the predictive factors that lead to progression of the proximal thoracic structural curve and how best to treat it with bracing and therapy, adult therapy and bracing, and more.
We invite you to register to expand your knowledge of scoliosis, exchange ideas and experiences and to build relationships with members of the Society.
